Goal Setting
Do you set goals & if so, how often? Is it just a sheet of paper you toss to the side or do you revisit them?
You've probably heard this a million times, having/setting a goal(s) is super important. But as we move through life, things come up and are thrown at us left, right and center. Sometimes what we want most gets lost in the day to day activities of life and we forget about our goals.
Are you feeling stuck and just unmotivated with life? Do you go from point A to B on auto pilot? Is everyday the exact same for you? When was the last time you challenged your own behaviors?
Having goals in life keeps you moving forward, keeps you growing and keeps life interesting. It keeps you focused and aligned with your purpose/passions. Goals allow you to feel accomplished and successful. Like you're actually doing something and mastering your craft. They give you that drive to keep moving forward day after day.
Here's 3 tips you can do that will help you accomplish your goals:
- Be very clear and specific on what it is you want to accomplish. Whether its this week, this month or this year. Write it down. There's so much power in putting pen to paper and it helps to get all the thoughts out of your head. We recommend spending 15-30 minutes each week (Sundays are best) where you can write out exactly what it is you want to accomplish.
- Commit to yourself. Once you are aware of what it is you want to do or achieve (your goals), set the time aside. Block off time in your calendar to ensure you're working towards achieve these goals. Make this a non-negatable commitment to yourself. We always tend to show up for others when needed but showing up for yourself will give you a sense of pride and accomplishment unlike anything else.
- Revisit your goals each week. Don't just write out your goals once and forget about them. Revisit them each week, knock off what's been done and add in new things you would like to work towards. Make any adjustments needed and keep moving forward.
Setting goals is one of the best ways to stay motivated and progressing throughout life. It gives you a roadmap and helps you stay accountable. Setting goals keeps you working towards exactly what it is you want in life.
Don't just float around day to day doing the exact same thing. Live the life you truly want and start working towards exactly that.
